the prince and the pea

a conversation with matt:

m: "we need to get a new sheet. ours has balls all over it and i can't sleep. they keep me awake."

s: "oh, like 'princess and the pea.'"

m: "what??"

s: "you know...princess and the pea, where the princess can't sleep because there is a pea under a whole bunch of mattresses."

m: "is that real?"

s: "it's a fairytale, you know, a children's story."

m: "is the story about the egg falling off of the wall real?"

s: laughing. "no. it's like 'hansel and grettel."

m: "that's the one where the boy and girl eat the house made out of candy and then the witch eats them."

s: laughing. "let me read you the story of princess and the pea from the internet"

reading of the story.....

m: after finding out that the prince marries the princess because she can feel the pea through 20 mattresses thus proving that she is a princess, "would you really want to marry someone who complained about not being able to sleep because of a pea?"

s: "hmmmm"
