sicker than sick

this morning i was getting diapers out of jake's closet, minding my own business, when out of my right eye i saw movement. it was a spider, not just any spider, but a black widow. it was like 2 feet away from my face. i know that it was a female, but i have a hard time calling anything that is so freaky a she, so i will refer to it as a he. he was scurrying his way up his thread and i was scurrying my way away from him. it totally freaked me out. he was right there in jake's closet next to his diapers and clothes (and my face). of course jake chose today to poo through two different outfits. how freaky was that to go into his room, reach my hand in his closet, pick out clothes, shake them and jump around like i had a spider on me.

now the next part is a little embarrassing. i have turned into a total sissy since i have gotten married. i figure it is the role of my hubby to take care of these sorts of things, so i called him and whined enough that he came home from work (what if jake pooed through another outfit??? - i couldn't handle it!)

so jake's perfectly organized closet was dismantled...

matt was determined to find it. he looked for over an hour. he found evidence, including webs in the closet...gross. then he found a big web in the air vent.

he was checking it out with flashlights, but couldn't see the spider. he went to investigate from the other end (the crawlspace) and came up saying that there were several nests. oooh! he still couldn't find the spider. i said that i was leaving and would not be returning to our home until it was sprayed. luckily our friend and neighbor is in pest control and while i was at my mom's he was at our house spraying. so there were lots of black widows and nests in the crawlspace. thank you for toxic chemicals. not we just need to put jake's room back together, but right now i don't feel like going in there.

our newest blogger

it seems like jake is changing a lot this week. last night he went to sleep before me and woke up after me (10:30 - 6:30). yeah! it was heaven! he is also starting to figure out his hands and he is loving his hangy toy thingy (thanks aunt stacy!). sorry about all the jake info. you are reading jake's baby book. i can do a baby book or a blog, not both :)

we went to visit grandma rass today at work. she showed jake the computer and he loved it. i mean he really loved it! his tongue was going in and out and his feet were kicking away under the desk. he even typed the word "I'm". he was grumpy and it made him totally happy.

it feels like summer but it isn't

it was so nice today! we were actually able to spend time outside. jake and i went for a run with the jogging stroller. wouldn't that be awesome to have someone push you around while you sleep!?! where do they do that? is it thailand or china? i need to go there. anyway, the weather was perfect. later on matt and i worked outside on some flower boxes that he is building around the base of our house. we are filling them with dirt. i can't wait to plant flowers in them. right now we are surrounded with dirt and more dirt.
our garden is coming along. we have spinach, green onions and peas that are now poking their little heads out of the ground. ohhh...i love spring and summer!

okay...i just noticed, jake's long hair is gone. i don't know when it happened, but it is gone. waahhh!

Jake's baby blessing

jake was blessed this sunday. matt did a wonderful job. i feel so blessed to have such a great husband and sweet son. we had a great weekend. it was fun to have family here. we had many an easter egg hunt. thank you to those who traveled to be with us (stacy and g. & g. jorgensen). we love you all!

Happy Easter!

wii fit...or maybe we aren't

remember bowling the other night??? well, somehow that inspired us and we bought a wii (bowling from the comfort of your living room). it was definitely a spontaneous purchase (we ordered it that night when we got home). somehow we felt better about the purchase by also purchasing a wii fit. it has been fun and humiliating at the same time. my wii fit age is 43! i was a little irritated because that was determined in large part by a balance test thingy. no where did it ask me if i had just had a baby. i also wasn't asked if i was used to this large chest that i am packing around. so unfair! i was comforted when matt's wii age came up as 40. in non-wii life i am 3 years older than him, so it works out.
come join us in our wii fun. wii would love to have you! hehehe

bowling league, here we come

matt and i had a date (thank you mom!!!). we went bowling. it was a lot of fun, but i must say that i am a little proud of my scores. i usually score around 60 or 70 if i am lucky. i had to take pictures.
we also played skee ball - you know that game that they have at amusement parks where you roll the ball and try to get it into the circles. very fun! i beat matt one time (we won't talk about how many times we played).

burp clothes

i made these burp clothes and i really like them. if you are having a baby or know someone that is, i would recommend them. you use a cloth diaper, sew a piece a hemmed material down the center, thick part and then add ribbon if you want.

more house pictures

i promised that i would put more pictures of the house on my blog, so there you go...

the 'hair'

do you see that hair on jake's left temple? that is not one of my stray hairs. nope..it is not. that is his hair. i am in love with this hair. i look at it all the time when he is nursing. a lot of his hair that he was born with has fallen out, but this rogue hair is staying strong. i will be so sad when it falls out. matt always wants to pluck it out, but i have warned him that that would not be a good action on his part. he would be in serious trouble. i have to wonder about this hair. it is like 1 1/2 inches long where the rest of his hair is little stubble. did it start at conception??? it is almost like it has a life of its own. it is getting so long that it almost gets in his eye. sometimes i will try to smooth it down with lotion and it pops right back out. i love it. right now you are all thinking that i need to get out more, aren't you!?!
