camping fun

we went camping last weekend with the jorgensen construction camp trailer for the first time. it was lots of fun. we have decided that we need to do this often. i have also personally decided that i need to scrub it top to bottom, before we take it again.

isn't it relaxing to be in the mountains....

we had a lot of rain and thunder....love it...especially since we weren't in a tent. it smelled so good and i loved the sound. jake didn't mind it much. we were in and out of the trailer between cloud bursts.

this table converted into a very small bed. this is where matt and i slept, this is also something that we will probably change for next time.

matt took jake and i to the spot where he proposed to me. so fun! it looks different than what it did when he proposed (springtime). we decided that we will go back sometime in the spring.

jake enjoyed sleeping with the sound of rain outside.

what a great way to spend a summer weekend!

date with koy

koy is 5 years old and he is a really cool nephew. we had our date the other day and had a great time. it is fun to spend one-on-one time. you learn all sorts of things. anyway, this is what we did together...

mcdonald's play land and then we went to vernal's rec. cener (koy had never been)
he was a good sport with having jake along. swimming was fun,

the whirlpool was our favorite (all three of us loved it!)

koy did awesome rock climbing,
when matt got home from work, we had movie night with him! it was a great day. thanks koy for hanging out with us! we love you!

cole and tanner

matt and i decided that we wanted to try and do something with each of our older nieces and nephews this summer. tanner was out recently from s.l.c. and so we jumped at the chance to take him and cole (they are inseparable if in the same county) to the dinosaur round-up rodeo. they probably would have rather been playing video games, but they were great and it was so fun to spend time with them. we had some good laughs on the ride over and back.

let the bounty begin

i am totally a geek, i freely admit it. i love seeing produce that we have grown preserved away in jars. for christmas i got a pressure cooker and i was finally able to use it. i bottled 2 (yep 2) pints of string beans (green and yellow). you might ask if that was economical to bottle only 2 pints and the answer is no, but i did it anyway and now i love to stare at them. the only thing better is when the pantry is full of freshly bottled bounty. summer is awesome!

firsts with jake

everyday there is something new for jake and for us...

carrots...

applesauce (look what happens when dad is in charge of feeding jake)...

prunes (first goatee)....

taste of a cheerio....

meeting some of the jorgensen cousins for the first time at our jorgensen reunion (this is jake's oldest cousin, adam, he just got his mission call to sweden)...

looking at his dad upside down, is a new favorite...

using his stuffed monkey to put himself to sleep (mom especially loves this)...

discovering his tongue (it is always out now, along with a big grin)...

and sitting propped by himself.
could anything be better than watching him grow and change!?!
i love being a mom and i love my baby boy!

i did it!!!

i ran the neola half-marathon! i will not be setting any speed records, but i have finally completed this goal. i have been wanting to do this for 4 years. i am broken today, but happy!

the best part....i did it with all my siblings. they ran with me the last block (of course finishing before i did). that was awesome!

thanks to my sweet husband for all your support through my training and taking care of jake during the race, including getting up at 4 a.m. to get me to the starting line on time. i thought of the two of you the entire 13.1 miles and you kept me going. it was so wonderful to see you when i turned that final corner. i love you!
