matt said...

i don't put "funny things that my kids say" on my blog (not yet anyway). i must document funny things that my husband says. he makes me laugh, without meaning to. he has a practice of messing up common sayings. tonight he said, "it is like pulling nails from teeth." thought you might enjoy it too. love you honey!

i love this kid..

and i love this stage. jake is starting to try to copy words that we say. when he is in the mood, he will give most words a try now. so funny!

this is the "wink"

we have started a ritual. it is quite lengthy, but so entertaining. when saying goodbye, jake will give knuckles, then high five, then a wink, then hitting elbows (which he calls "bebow"), then a head bump (head butt), then blow a kiss. love it! how can i keep him this size? he is growing too fast!

can't find us???

we're outside, working on the yard.

camper candy

that is what we have now, after my recent remodel of our old dirty camper. up until recently, this little baby hasn't seen much love. matt and mike's business bought it a couple of years ago for some workers to live in and they did so for quite a while (can you imagine???). anyway, it needed a serious cleaning and something more. i painted (yes, over the wallpaper - it was not coming off without bringing the wood stuff too), scrubbed, made all new curtains and new bedding. i made the bedroom more cozy. it used to have two undersized beds (you couldn't even call them twins) and a non-functional nightstand. i ripped all that right out and made one giant bed (larger than a queen) with two down comforters, a new quilt for the top and loads of home-made pillows. the best part...i only spent $6 on the whole camper and that was to buy stinkin' curtain rods. is there an easy way to make homemade curtain rods from scratch? i decided that it was worth it to spend the $6, even though my goal was to not spend a penny. i have used every spare second of jake's naps on this and in some ways i am kind of sad that it is done. don't get me wrong, i know it is still not the prettiest thing, but i will set it aside for awhile. we will take it camping this weekend and i will let you know how it goes.

BEFORE: dingy kitchen

AFTER: new paint, scrubbed and new curtain (made from an old shirt) with tiebacks

BEFORE: looking toward the dining table/uncomfortable bed area. unfortunately, i had already removed the hideous curtains before taking this picture...words can not describe. let's just say eighties, blue and mauve.

AFTER: new paint, and new curtains with tiebacks. remember, you can only do so much with free.

BEFORE: sleeping area - once again, i had already taken the curtains down, but as you can see, there was a blue theme going on as well as two tiny beds.

AFTER: the pictures don't do this justice. i should have taken a picture or two for you with the curtains closed (but i was feeling lazy). the curtains on the windows that are at the head and foot of the bed are made out of black and white polka dotted material and the curtains on the long window that you can see are made with striped material that buttons closed when pulled shut (with big buttons) and the polka dotted material along the top. the bed is COZY. so soft with the new mattress (gently used - donated by my mom - thanks mom), the two down comforters, the new quilt and all those pillows. there is a black and white theme with shades of green thrown in.

all of you out there, with your fancy, new campers, don't be jealous.

an evening in the garden

jake loves to play in the water. we finally got him a kiddie pool. it is a chore to keep him out of it long enough to strip off his clothes. he also loves to go along the garden ditches - throwing in dirt clods or walking in the water. he is 100% boy and by that i mean that he is 100% matt. i think that the only thing that he got from me is my dimples. it is so fun to watch him explore.

matt had a little disciplining moment. i sat by taking pictures. it was so nice to be able to just sit back...

happy anniversary

yesterday was our 3rd anniversary. we were pretty relaxed about it this year. we will be going camping this weekend in celebration. for an anniversary present, we ordered a couple of beach cruisers and a bike trailer for jake. it will be our new family transportation (or recreation). so far, matt's bike has arrived and jake's trailer. my bike is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and my basket and bell soon thereafter. so fun! we bought the bikes on walmart.com for $84 each. what a deal! can't wait until we can all go cruisin' as a family. we will be taking them with us camping this weekend.

jake loved it too!

did i mention how lucky i am to have matt as my husband? i love you baby boy and i am so grateful that i get to spend eternity cruisin' with you!

tagged

i have been tagged by mandi. this means that i had to go to the first file and tenth picture, post it and describe what it happening. well, here it is...

it is a "before" picture of our old camp trailer. i am currently remodeling it. it is turning into a real pimped out place. you are all going to be jealous. hehe. i am joking of course. more pictures to follow of the completed look (when i finish it that is). this project has kept me busy, along with helping matt put in a sprinkling system and a yard. we just finished the sprinkling system and now we are starting the curbing. seriously overwhelming!

so now, i am tagging:
1. stacy
2. kimmie
