drive time

we spent a day of our vacation driving from cannon beach to seattle.
along the way, we happened upon this beach.
we thought that we would go look at it, but there was a sign that said,
"beach speed limit 25 mph"

matt's dream come true.
he was in heaven.
driving on the beach???
he loved it!
after awhile, driving on the beach wasn't enough.
he had to drive through the waves.
i have video of it, but it wouldn't upload.
needless to say....this was a highlight for matt.

some sights along the way...

matt did not love this bridge in astoria.

it actually was quite long and high.

the fun part was there was construction on the bridge and the anticipation of getting stopped for who knows how long, but we made it across without delay.

loved the look of this inn!

we made it to seattle.
the plan was to meet matt's family at the bellview (seattle) temple for a session, but we were a little early so we went for a little walk on the trails that were right next to the temple.  so beautiful!

cannon beach

my favorite part of the whole trip!
matt and i could live here.
we loved it that much.
we arrived just before sunset.
it was chilly, misty and perfect!

haystack rock.
there is something magical about it in person.

the beach was long, beautiful and abandoned
we walked along it, even after dark.
i love watching the waves at night.

this was our view of haystack rock out our patio
(please ignore the construction cones and porta-potty).
we did not even realize that we were this close to haystack rock until we woke up in the morning and looked outside.

a favorite memory of mine....
we walked out of our room and took a stroll on the beach with our hot chocolate.
i was even still in my pajamas, stratight out of bed.
we turned on genesis chapter 1 on matt's iphone and listened to the scriptures about the creation while we strolled.
it was spiritual.
this place is amazing.

the tide was low,
so we ventured right up to the rock and checked out all the cool sea creatures including these fun orange, pink and purple star fish.

it drizzled just a little.

matt and i love looking at houses where ever we go
and we loved the houses on cannon beach.

we went for a little drive around cannon beach and it didn't disappoint.

i can't wait to go back to this place and spend more time,
but we had to get going we had a drive to make.
next stop:  seattle to meet matt's family.

5th and 50th Anniversary

back in may, matt's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
all of the siblings and spouses (except for jon and wenona), went with mom and dad jorgensen to victoria on vancouver island (that's british columbia, canada people).
we all met up in seattle, washington.
matt and i took our time getting there and along the way we celebrated our 5 year anniversary.
we had a great time!
we spent a day exploring columbia river gorge on the border of washington and oregon.
soooo beautiful!
so green!
so many waterfalls...so little time.
this was like heaven for matt and i.  we love to hike, we love trees and green and we didn't have our kids (thanks to my dear family!).

still kissing after 5 years.  well at least for anniversary pictures.

this is what i get for asking matt to pose for a picture
and now for his rebelliousness, i will post it on our blog.

took a picture of the slug to show jake.
