thank you, thank you, thank you

i wanted to thank my dear family (grandma rass, aunt stacy, cousin maddie, grandma jorgensen) that came to help at the delivery and stayed with us afterwards as we tried to catch up on sleep. what would we have done without you???? want to come back???

and of course there is my wonderful husband...what would i do without you!?! your help throughout the pregnancy, labor and delivery and since we brought jake home has been amazing. each day i think that you couldn't be any better and then you prove me wrong. i love you!

you have got to be kidding me

you know, i haven't been out of the house much (once) since we brought jake home. we are avoiding the dreaded RSV. last night we decided to go to movie gallery to get a movie so that i could get out (really that involves a truck ride and waiting in the truck or matt waiting in the truck). we got jake all ready, which involved changing two diapers - one wet and then one poopy. we got him into his car seat and buckled him in and matt said, "i think he just pooped". we knew that we were going to be fast, so we pretended like it was a fart (first mistake). well, the first mistake might have been thinking we needed to go out at all...anyway...jake wasn't too happy on the drive and he has really liked riding in the truck, so i stayed in the truck to sooth him while matt made a speedy trip into the store. we got home and immediately we took jake out of his car seat to find that he (and the car seat that we have used twice) was wet with pee and poo from his armpits down. pretty fun for all three of us. i started cleaning up jake and matt started taking apart the brand new car seat. care instructions - hand wash with damp sponge - yeah right - you have got to be kidding me. there isn't a sponge big enough. we threw it in the washer on gentle cycle and it seems to have survived. the question is will we? :) we love our baby boy!

pee-pee tepee

one of my favorite things...because it is just so funny. a friend gave me a pee-pee tepee (for the sprinkling wee-wee) for jake. it works well when positioned correctly, but it always makes me smile.

oh...one more thing. jake lost his umbilical cord today - yeah!!! who knew that something so small could make me so happy, but it did. i bet that he is glad to be rid of it too. i considered taking a picture of it to post and decided that that would be disgusting. i also decided against saving it for his scrapbook.

sleep deprivation

our baby boy is here! we are so lucky to have him. we are loving being parents, but along with all the fun comes the sleepless nights. matt has been an awesome dad. he is up at night with us and feeds jake a bottle while i pump. anyway, we have both been a little tired. the other day, matt went to buy me maxi pads (he loved that) and get our groceries. he called me with several questions, but was able to make it through. i had given him three $50 bills to pay with. when the total came up as $94, he thought that he didn't have enough. somehow in his mind, he had three $25 bills, for a total of $75. he asked the lady if he could pay part of it in cash and the rest on debit. she said that he could, so he gave her the three bills. she looked at him and said that he had enough to pay for it all in cash and that he only needed to give her two of the bills rather than all three. matt paid and left the store embarassed. when he got to the truck, he called me and asked if there was such a thing as $25 bills.

facebook regret

so i am starting to regret joining facebook. it seems all-consuming. i check my email and it is full of facebook requests, so i go to facebook and i get overwhelmed. i have neglected my poor little blog because of facebook and it isn't even fun. is there a way to quit facebook? does that make me a loser? i like this blog business a lot better. maybe i will just ignore facebook for awhile and add to my blog.

Retired!

today was my last day of work. i am retired :) next week (hopefully) baby jake will be here. until then, i will try to catch up in the world of technology. i just joined facebook and i am now starting a blog. whoa....it's been a big night.
