somebody needs a hair cut

this is what happens when mommy asks daddy to

do jake's hair.

sunday drive

last sunday, we went for a drive. the mountains were so beautiful with all the colorful leaves. we got out and played around for a little bit. took a little hike. just enjoyed being out in the beauty. jake's pants were soaked because of course he spilled all of his water bottle in his car seat as we were driving. awesome.

i have very few pictures of me with my boys, so i'll post all of them :)

we've been trying it for about 3 weeks now.

i am not convinced,

and neither is sam

that it is something that he will ever like.

mountains + cousins = awesome!

sunday evening after general conference,

we had the opportunity to spend the evening in the mountains. 

it included:

lots of beautiful fall colors

hide and go seek

running

exploring

hot dogs and marshmallows

scary stories around a campfire

kick the can

pure fun!

home sweet home

finally...pictures of our house.  we love our house.  it is nice to be settled again.

this is jakie taking pictures of me (with the headlamp) while i take pictures. 

i am going to put some greenery with flowers on the pot rack.  just looking for the right stuff. 

we will be repainting and reupholstering our table/chairs.  doesn't match. 

looking for some cool platters/plates for the mantel.  any ideas???

and the towel hooks on the island.

in this picture you can see all my surfaces:  butcher block in the hutch (baking center), granite on the white cabinets and zinc on the island.  i love all the variety.

this is where sam had to sit with his ugly baby stuff while i took pictures.  poor guy.  don't worry..once pictures were taken, his baby toys were spread through every room again.

hopper

this made me laugh.

jake found this dead grasshopper in the garage and was fascinated by it.

he insisted that i take a picture of it. 

after a little while of inspecting the "hopper" he broke out into his kung fu.  another thing that i love.  i really have to get it recorded. 

then kung fu with weapons. 

okay.  back to inspecting the hopper, only this time with instruments. 

at this point he spent much focus getting his left hand positioned just right on his insturment (notice he is looking at it to check the position) 

the work continues now that left hand is correctly positioned. 

oh no!  the leg fell off.  up to this point he hadn't touched the dried up, dead hopper, but now without thinking he picked the leg up with his fingers and placed it back on the dead hopper. 

all in a day's work!
