our house

for my girls....i have been promising pictures for a long time. truth be told, these pictures are from thanksgiving time (see the christmas decorations). i took them to email to you and spent 3 1/2 hours trying to email them - finally i cussed and then gave up. (what is my problem!?!) anyway, shannon reminded me that the pictures are still lacking, so let's keep our fingers crossed that this works. the house looks a little different now - we have added more trim to the outside and some flower boxes made out of the stained wood. i need to take more updated pictures of the inside (that is why you are only seeing the kitchen). i love my house. i think that it is the only red house in roosevelt. it is not hard to describe where we live.

who needs cloth diapers!?!

so, last night we had jared and tauni over for family home evening. they are great friends and neighbors...we love them. anyway, we were playing a rousing game of quiddler (you would love this game - it is way fun) and jake spit up and pooped in my lap within 2 minutes of each other. luckily he was on a his giraffe blanket so the mess was contained (not by his diaper mind you). he was a mess, the blanket was a mess, his clothes were a mess. i did my best to get him cleaned up and then threw the whole bundle into the washing machine and got back to the game. this morning i went to change the load from the washer to the dryer and to my surprise along with his clothes and blanket, there was a clean disposable diaper and 6 clean wipes. i love my washer and yes...i am such a dork. i showed matt the clean diaper and he said, "let's reuse it."

firsts...

jake was 6 weeks yesterday. i think that he wanted to show us how big he is so he slept until 5:06 this morning. i am not kidding...it was heaven. last night he went to sleep by himself (another first). i put him in bed while asleep, but he woke up a few minutes later. i kept checking on him, he had his eyes wide open, but wasn't crying. thirty minutes later when i checked on him, he was asleep. i have no delusions that this is the way that it is going to always be, but hey, i will take what i can get. i am lovin' it!

local culture

the uintah basin arts council put on the musical "bye bye birdie". matt and his brother mike built the walls for the set so we got free tickets. last night was the final night, so we went. it was a lot of fun. who says that we ain't got no culture!?!

rocky fans

the last few nights we have been watching the rocky movies (are we pathetic?). we are halfway through rocky III. the boys get into it much more than i do. i am sure that the american academy of pediatrics would not recommend this for children under 2.

bath time

jake finally likes bath time :) he lounges back and kicks that right leg over the side of his hammock and hangs it in the water. the wash rag is there to keep him warm and to protect me from the fountain that he always creates. bath time = relaxed and happy...getting out is another story.

i wish they all could be california girls

i moved back from the bay area 5 years ago, but i STILL miss my girls there. they were like family to me, well they still are...anyways, melissa (dark hair) and kianna (levi jacket) are still living the single life, but the rest of us are married and were all pregnant together. i was the first to birth my child. lisa (sitting) is due in april, with a girl, and shannon (yellow bracelet) is due in july, with a boy. natalie, with that cute little bump, had her baby boy, lucas, yesterday. congratulations nat and thomas!!! he is beautiful and i am so happy for you! somehow we will have to figure out how to get all these babies together and when they are older they can all fight over lisa's cute baby girl.

jake gave me his first real social smile (three times) yesterday! how fun. this is not a picture of it, but these are some of the funny faces that he makes when he is half asleep. it cracks me up. sorry about the quality, but i had the flash off as to not disturb....
