mother's day

i don't understand it when women say that they don't like mother's day.
i think that it may be my favorite holiday or pretty close to it.
my mother's day was perfect.
i was spoiled, but better than that,
i got to spend the whole day with these three handsome boys.
i can't imagine my life without them.
they are my dream.

after church, we spent the afternoon/evening in the mountains.
so peaceful!

aren't the three of them handsome!

nothing cuter than this!

thank you for making me a mother!

a weekend in slc

we spent the weekend of may 18th in salt lake city.
we started friday night with matt's niece, aliese's,  reception.
we ended the weekend sunday night with my niece, maddie's, seminary graduation.
unfortunately i don't have any pictures with maddie.  hate that.
anyway, the following are pictures of what we did in between.

handsome matt with the beautiful bride.
we love aliese!
she is a sweetheart and kyle, her husband, is pretty awesome too!

i spent most of the evening trying to control the kids.

sam is not even a year old here and he was awfully close to those stairs.
he gave me a heart attack probably 10 times that night.
jake ran and ran and ran.
the trick was to keep him IN the building.

seriously, look how sweaty this kid is.
red face and all.  he ran A LOT.
honestly i was pretty relieved when it was over.

HOGLE ZOO

saturday we went to hogle zoo.
before we even got in the gate, jake was spotting animals and was enthralled.

still not in the gates.
this kiddo is a MAJOR animal lover.

wonderin' how to get closer to the elephant.

sam was pretty darn good to stay put in the stroller.

rhinos....one of jake's favorite.

this was a valuable piece of real estate.
try as he might, jake was unable to get his turn on this beast.

he did get a chance to check out the horn.
that is his favorite part anyway.

the carousel was a hit!

i think jake said something about the gorilla having big ninnies.

jake's absolute favorite was the reptile house!
he didn't want to leave this place.
only problem....sam and i were waiting for them outside.
no strollers allowed.
we didn't know that they were having a great time.
half an hour passes.
no matt and jake.
more time passes.
no matt and jake.
we saw people go in and out.
lots of people go in and out.
no matt and jake.
called on the cell phone.
no answer.
where are they?
did they go out another exit?
sam was asleep in the stroller or i would have taken him out and went to investigate.
the next day they finally came out.
sam and i had moss growing on our toes we waited so long.
glad to know that he loved it.

a family outing just wouldn't be a family outing unless i have the opportunity (and take it) to take a picture of matt disciplining jake.
why do i think this is funny?

aw...friends again...
or is it matt keeping a hold of jake?

CITY CREEK

just in case a day at the zoo with two toddler isn't long enough,
we decided to go to city creek to meet matt's brother, ron, and his family.
while waiting for them, the kids played in the different water features.

that's jake in the navy and sam in the green.
sam was hillarious.
i think that he was relieved to finally be out of his stroller.

he kept doing this to all the water holes
and yes, one did eventually spray him in the face.
he didn't care, he loved it.
by the end, he was soaking wet so we had to buy him a change of clothes.
fun day!

may moments

i am finally getting to some of the pictures that have been on matt's iphone.
these are from may.
i know...lame.  i am so behind.

aw... i remember this with fondness...
any dirt clod going in the mouth.
glad that stage is through, for the most part.
