happy halloween!

i loved jake's shark costume,

but he did NOT want to be a shark again.

he wanted to be spiderman...

and this apparently is his pose.

 

and sammy got to be a monkey,

a cute little monkey.

i was little red riding hood and

matt was the big bad wolf, dressed as grandma.

our costumes lasted about 30 seconds and then we got too hot.

 

some of my family came by for festivities and to go trick or treating.

you know, when you live in neola, there really is no traditional trick or treating so we are glad that they came down to the "city" to enjoy our neighborhood with us.

all of us were trick or treating novices.

 

almost everyone got into the spirit of the evening.

i don't have any pictures of brett, ty or kim (they didn't dress up).

this was hillarious!

cole spent the evening on our porch with the treat bucket on his lap.

he scared many a little kid!

sometimes when a kid would reach out and touch him, he would slowly stand up. 

creepy!

cole stayed behind to man the treats and we took all the trick or treaters around.

halloween at little sprouts preschool

i am going to do something totally different for me...

i am going to post something current.

i am not going to wait until i catch up,

because i may never catch up.

today sam and i were able to help at jake's preschool halloween party.

i know...i haven't even posted jake's picture of his first day of school or the cute picture of him playing in the leaves at preschool, but i will not let that deter me. 

i will post this and hopefully fill in later.

oh and for the record...he LOVES preschool!

drive time

we spent a day of our vacation driving from cannon beach to seattle.

along the way, we happened upon this beach.

we thought that we would go look at it, but there was a sign that said,

"beach speed limit 25 mph"

 

matt's dream come true.

he was in heaven.

driving on the beach???

he loved it!

after awhile, driving on the beach wasn't enough.

he had to drive through the waves.

i have video of it, but it wouldn't upload.

needless to say....this was a highlight for matt.

matt did not love this bridge in astoria.



 

it actually was quite long and high.

 

the fun part was there was construction on the bridge and the anticipation of getting stopped for who knows how long, but we made it across without delay.

 

loved the look of this inn!

 



 

we made it to seattle.

the plan was to meet matt's family at the bellview (seattle) temple for a session, but we were a little early so we went for a little walk on the trails that were right next to the temple.  so beautiful!

cannon beach

my favorite part of the whole trip!

matt and i could live here.

we loved it that much.

we arrived just before sunset.

it was chilly, misty and perfect!

 

 

haystack rock.

there is something magical about it in person.

the beach was long, beautiful and abandoned

we walked along it, even after dark.

i love watching the waves at night.

we did not even realize that we were this close to haystack rock until we woke up in the morning and looked outside.

a favorite memory of mine....

we walked out of our room and took a stroll on the beach with our hot chocolate.

i was even still in my pajamas, stratight out of bed.

we turned on genesis chapter 1 on matt's iphone and listened to the scriptures about the creation while we strolled.

it was spiritual.

this place is amazing.

 



 

the tide was low,

so we ventured right up to the rock and checked out all the cool sea creatures including these fun orange, pink and purple star fish.

 

it drizzled just a little.

 

matt and i love looking at houses where ever we go

and we loved the houses on cannon beach.

 

we went for a little drive around cannon beach and it didn't disappoint.

 

i can't wait to go back to this place and spend more time,

but we had to get going we had a drive to make.

next stop:  seattle to meet matt's family.
